An ongoing chronicle of the myriad misadventures of Dude and Thipp, 'The Troubles with Travels' continues the story of the two best friends. Frood is now becoming a bona fide member of the Nessie family; he even has his own room he can decorate however he wants. He also knows these are people whom he can trust, especially after a traumatic occurrence that he can only seem to make it through with the special help of Dude and Thipp. The biggest tragedy is yet to come however, and Thipp becomes a broken man, but the three of them pull together to bring some peace back to Thipp.
Yet there are even more difficulties to overcome, and a split begins between Dude and Thipp's friendship - something neither one of them thought would ever happen. With Frood's assistance, as well as help from their other good friends, they find their way back to an understanding that makes them brothers. They also discover they have a self-chosen family to see them through whatever might knock them down and know they can count on the friendly help they need to get them back to normal.
Or at least as close to normal as 'being Dude and Thipp' can be.

This is a very good follow-up to the original Space Dude novel, that introduced Harry Holman Jr (Dude) and Thipp Dillion, his British bestie, whose many space adventures in the first book had me fist pumping and chuckling all along the way. In " The Trouble with Travels, " not only are Thippie and Dude back, but so is Frood, Booray, Junior, Lady Maroona, and some new characters. However, things take a bit more of a darker turn as both Frood and Thipp experience some drastic life changes. And Dude, feeling neglected, is suddenly, re-evaluating his friendship with Thipp. There is drama and action, and moments of serious sorrow. But because the author created such a unique universe and diverse, lovable, interesting characters, that I wished were real (I want my own Thippie!), the original " Space Dude " and this admiable follow-up should NOT be missed by any fan of Science Fiction and Adventure.
I am not giving away any spoilers, for the reader should purchase these very original and groovy stories and find out for themselves.
I am eagerly waiting for the third installment.
More introspective than the first book, and more emotionally challenging, while retaining the fun. As with the first book, this is not a pure sci-fi swashbuckler. There are complicated relationships and multidimensional character development. I highly recommend the series.
