This book is not scary. Okay, it might be a little scary in some places for some people. Mostly for people who are way more into grammar than the author. Books 1 and 2 had endings. Book 3 took me by surprise by ending without an ending.. if that makes sense. Book 4, Party Hexed, at least had an ending on some parts and a 'to be continued..' on others. I have never been a fan of the TV 'soap opera' series. Book 3 and 4 reminds me of this. Since I've bought the whole series before I started reading, I will finish the rest of the books. If you don't mind waiting for the next book to continue the story, then I recommend this book for you.Product details

Book Four in the "Witches of Winterfield" series is a winner! Dark magic, light magic gone awry, missing persons, an unsolved homicide, a questionable ally, and a plague of zombies leave Bella and Ben with no time to just enjoy their relationship! It's a good thing their loved ones are so fiercely loyal, but I'm questioning Jessie... And I do wonder why Mattie is still alive and what will happen with Carly's vial. I can't wait for tomorrow when psycho arrogant Lexi is taken down; the nerve of that letter! There are lighthearted moments mixed in (cake pops to the rescue, really?!) and the magical elements are imaginatively conceived. I recommend this series, but it's best read in order for maximum enjoyment.
Once again, we start out well with careful plotting and decent writing skill, but somewhere about two thirds through it seems like the writer is tired of the story and just starts throwing weird events around and rushing for the end. Some extraneous events do nothing to advance the plot. Semispoiler alert An example is that Belladonna losing her magic temporarily just overcomplicates things and does nothing to advance the story and even makes it a little unbelievable when she goes to investigate a dangerous place alone. I do wish the author would stay on track and stick to the main story near the end. As usual near the end, she starts telling us what happened instead of allowing the characters to act out the story. Perhaps this is what causes the feeling that she is rushing to end the book. I believe this writer is capable of better; the first half or so of her books show real promise. I hope she will take this as constructive criticism and not ill natured critique, because I'd like to see her improve.

Quite an easy read. Had a couple of surprises and of course a happy ending generally.
I have read 4 out or the 5 books and they are terrific. Just Long enough to have a full measure of action and mystery. Each book has been a pleasure to read. Quirky paranormal situations abound.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Belladonna and all her witch family and her other unusual friends. The trouble they get into and the problems they have to solve are intense. Another cantputdownable must read.
This is another winner. I highly recommend all her books to everyone who loves ghost and witches mysteries. These cozy mysteries are great. So are the crazy characters she has in her books. Diana Romano
